§ 16-1. Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Business includes any joint stock company, corporation, association, joint venture, limited liability company, club, or partnership.

Corporate counsel means the attorney for the town.

Fire district means the incorporated limits of the Town of Oak Island as set forth by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Fire marshal means the code enforcement official employed pursuant to section 16-4.

Resident is defined as:

(1)

Any person who maintains his or her full-time residence within the Town of Oak Island.

(2)

The majority owner of a business that operates from real property owned by the business located with the Town of Oak Island.
